Developments in Finswimming

Abstract

Finswimming is the name of a new sport in which the swimmers use fins in the legs. The roots of sport are found in the antiquity and particularly in the effort of person for various submarine activities. The aim of this article is to present this fascinating sport, its historical development, its administrative structure as well as the recent research findings in the area. In spite of the enormous involvement of swimmers in the sport, and the need for specialized coaches, the effort for the development of sport in Greece should be continued considering its likely future recognition as Olympic sport.
