Brief Portrait
Alexandra Bekiari is Assistant Professor of Pedagogy at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science, University of Thessaly, Greece. She received BSc from the University of Athens, Greece and PhD from the University of Ioannina, Greece. She has long teaching experience in the primary and secondary level as well as in Higher Education (in Bachelor and Master program). She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in international academic journals and conferences as well as textbooks on the pedagogy of physical education and on sociology of education. At the undergraduate level, her teaching activity focuses on the sociology of education, the pedagogy of physical education, philosophy of pedagogy as well as on the history of physical education. At postgraduate level, her teaching focuses on social network analysis and power theory (Inter-faculty Master Program “Networks and Complexity”), on multiple intelligence issues (Inter-faculty Master Program “Exercise, Health and Life Quality”) and on project teaching in education (Master Program “Management of Educational Organizations”). She has been a member in committees of the department (e.g. Library Committee, Student Affairs Committee, Qualifying Entrance Exams Committee etc). Her research interests focus on aggressiveness, communication and social networks in pedagogy and physical education.
